Karine (ka-ree-nah) Swenson is a visual artist living in the high desert
of Southern California, near Joshua Tree National Park. She paints in
oil, watercolor and pastel. Her abstract, or non-representational
paintings are a visual exploration of color and form. She also has a
life-long interest in painting and drawing the human figure. Please
explore the many facets of this unique artist. An adventurer at heart,
Swenson has a love of nature and the outdoors. She lived in Colorado, where she hiked, skied and spent summers
fly-fishing high mountain lakes. She lived in Hawaii where she surfed, swam, snorkeled and learned to dance the hula.
She has also traveled extensively. Now, as a desert dweller, she spends as much time as she can
exploring the wonders of the desert landscape with her dog, Pono.
You can get a glimpse into their many adventures by visiting her blog. http://ponosmom.blogspot.com
The many different places and adventures Swenson has experienced all lend something more to the creation of her art. She seeks a visual language that transcends words and hopefully touches on a quality that is universal. She draws heavily from nature, but she also reaches deep within for the creation of her art. |
