Two Artists, Two Days, One Medium
Encaustic Painting Workshop
Announcing a LIVE encaustic workshop in my brand new studio this May!
Ellen Koment and I will be teaching a two day encaustic painting workshop Saturday, May 25th and Sunday, May 26th, 2024. We're so excited to share our knowledge of encaustic paint with you. The class is perfect for beginners as well as artists who have some experience with the medium, but would like to know more. We will cover a lot in two days, including, but not limited to: making your own encaustic paint, fusing with a torch, pouring wax, collage, image transfer and more! This will be a great opportunity for you to try this ancient medium without buying a bunch of expensive materials first. We will supply painting surfaces, wax, damar resin, pigments, torches, brushes and tools. All you need to bring is your willingness to learn and your creativity. (Oh, and bring a lunch. My studio is not close to any restaurants.)
Ellen Koment has been teaching encaustic for twenty-five years. Her first show with encaustic paint was in 1994 in Portland. As one of the pioneers in modern encaustic painting, she offers years of experience with the medium that few other artists have.
Karine Swenson has been an artist for nearly thirty years, and the last 8 or 9 years she has spent exploring encaustic. Her first show with encaustic was three years ago, but she has been actively showing and selling her encaustic paintings since then.
Koment and Swenson are both currently showing at Aurelia Gallery in Santa Fe.
Mark your calendars now for Saturday and Sunday, May 25th & 26th, 2024. The workshop will be held from 10 to 4 pm both days.
Coffee, tea and snacks will be provided, but please plan to bring your own lunch.
Space is limited, so sign up today! A minimum of 3 students is needed for the workshop to happen, but class size will be limited to 8. We want everyone to have plenty of attention during the workshop.
